Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
– Pablo Picasso
Leanne enjoyed drawing often as a young child and was encouraged to expand on her artwork. She attended Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a BA with honors along with the Class Portfolio Award in Medical Illustration. This field of study helped develop her skills with detailed work. Her artwork is a combination of graphite, colored pencil, watercolor, oil paint, and now digital. Leanne decided to add to her classical training and has recently studied watercolor and oil painting under master painters. This training helped inform her digital painting, which allows for a huge range of colors, great detail, and expressive light.
Using an intuitive as well as a classical approach to each work, Leanne calls her offerings “Nature Art” because along with the obvious meaning, she is also thinking about the nature of beings as she works. This is the magic and energy behind the art. It is created as a place of calm, good energy, and balance for the spirit. Animals are often a subject in her work because they embody an essence that one can be inspired by and learn from.
